Nagaland Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Mission

Government of Nagaland

Background

Nagaland's Employment & Skill Development Initiative

Nagaland has a young and literate population, yet the state faces significant challenges in generating sustainable employment opportunities. The state’s economy remains heavily dependent on government jobs and subsistence agriculture, leading to high underemployment and limited career growth.

Despite these challenges, there is a growing demand for skilled professionals in key sectors such as hospitality, healthcare, information technology, construction, renewable energy, and the digital economy. National and international markets are expanding, creating new opportunities for skilled professionals.

The Government of Nagaland recognizes the need to bridge the skill gap and create sustainable career opportunities. This proposal outlines a comprehensive initiative to train 5,000 youths in high-demand trades and ensure a placement rate of 60–80% through partnerships with reputed training providers, financial institutions, and industry bodies.
